A few good sportswriters needed.
Here at How To Watch Sports we’re actively looking to bring aboard one or two additional sports analysts before the fall is over.
The focus of HTWS isn’t news, it’s analysis—we pride ourselves on going one step deeper in sports commentary and statistical analysis. We’re looking for sophisticated writers whose work is backed up by a depth of knowledge, has personality, and is just plain interesting to read. We believe that there are, in fact, smart people who watch sports, and that’s who we write for. Sportswriting experience isn’t required, but it’s certainly going to help.
The site has found an unanticipated amount of success in its first year, and because of that we’re looking to expand our team. We’re especially interested in anyone with NBA or NFL/college football expertise. Articles on HTWS get referenced by ESPN, Yahoo! Sports, and regularly get cited elsewhere all over the Internet. Thousands and thousands of readers literally span the globe.
If you’re not already familiar with HTWS, the best way to get a feel for what we do is to cruise around and read a bit. A starting place might be some of the most popular articles, like these:
- LeBron James’ Foul Issue: A Rebuttal
- Phoenix Suns: 2010 Edition vs. 1993 NBA Finals Edition
- Thanks, Lakers and Celtics, For Ruining the 2010 NBA Playoffs
- Allen Iverson and the Virtue of Selfishness
If you think you’ve got what it takes, send an email to roger@howtowatchsports.com — he’ll ask you for a writing sample, so include one if you have one ready. Feel free to also email Roger if you have any questions. He’s busy, but he’ll email you back.
We’re looking forward to hearing from you.
